Twitter Tips for Speakers: Before, During & After the Event
While I enjoy seeing the latest and greatest antics of friends on Facebook and love being a business voyeur on LinkedIn, hands down my favorite tool is Twitter. I’ve connected with event planners looking for a last minute speaker, gotten great feedback from audience members and generally just been able to keep my finger on the pulse of what is happening in the industry – from all sides – the planner, the speaker, the participant.

Not sure what you heard me on but thanks for the kind words. Hope you enjoy the book. Dayna
I just listened to you on Psysic Radio and you are an answer to prayer. I have 2 incredibly gifted children. (Son, 25 and Daughter 21) They write the most incredible music…(I know all parents say that LOL!), but my daughter has lost “hope” that their dreams can come true, while my son pushes forward. He plays all of the instruments for the songs they co-write and does the mixing and production, to the completion of the CD. She has an unreal voice and does all the vocals (lead and background). He has become disillusioned by her lack of faith in their dream. I ordered your book and can’t wait for ALL of us to read it. I have tried to understand my daughter’s loss of belief in herself. She has been taking voice/dance lessons since she was 5. She has won so many major talent contests over the past 16 years that we have journals full. Though I tried to prepare her that one day she will meet those that are equally as talented as she is, and she will have to work that much harder to achieve her dreams; I don’t think she believed me. It is finally happening and she is lost. So you know I am being truthful ~ she won a contest and got to be 1 of 6 singers to open for Richard Marx, she just sang the National Anthem to open for Kelly Clarkson. She also was 1 of 3 to open for Jordan Sparks (all local talent competitions). She is gifted. I just sent a link to your site too both kids, and HOPE that it will inspire them as well as myself. You “ROCK”…and thank you!! I will follow your career and am sure I will glean much wisdom and inspiriation! Happy 4th and many blessings to you and yours!
Warmly,
Charn Burton
Thanks for the comment on the website. I give them out at speeches or whenever anyone asks me for “my card.” At larger events, once I give a few out, it brings even more people to me to ask if they can have one. It is a great way to meet and network with an even larger group. I carry them in my computer bag, purse, pocket – always have a few to give out.
Dayna:
Will ignore the obvious. Just read Marcia Layton Turner’s Lessons Learned 2.0 which includes mention of your use of a guitar pick for promotional material. Didn’t understand why, until I opened your web page. Do you give the pick out to everyone, or have you worked out a target audience that you are trying to reach. Given your diverse background and interests, how did you work out who to target.
