It was great that the State honored my property rights. That was the case until two years ago (September 1, 2009). Regarding hurricanes, Perry said "Should I have the _RIGHT_ to tell people to evacuate? Yes. In an emergency, someone has to be in charge and make decisions." (my emphasis) The governors logic is strange. I'm under the impression that property rights come with the purchase of a piece of property. Somehow the governor thinks that, when a hurricane is coming, my property rights shift to him. I couldn't disagree more. On my property, I'm the one with the property rights. I'm in charge. I make the decisions. I weigh the risk/benefit of staying/going and decide. I live with the consequences of my decision. Dana - Your blog rocks!
